Born as the 7th Prince - 101

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but can we get back to the topic of Rai Ortnek's future?"

Professor Müller corrected the course of the conversation, and we all got ready to listen.

"Since a few days ago, the professors of the Mage Department have been requesting to hear Rai Ortnek's opinion on mixed magic, but we have been declining because his progress as a Knight Department student has not been good."

"I've heard the story. At least after the fall of the second year, after Ortnek's body has been built up," he said.

I didn't know that such a story had been going on behind my back.

"Yes. But, in fact, there's talk of recommending him to study abroad this fall."

"Eh, this is the first I've heard of that!?"

When I asked back involuntarily, Professor Müller said indifferently, "Because I haven't told you."

"What's the duration?"

"About a year. So, the next time he returns to the academy as a student will be in the fall of the second year as originally planned."

"You're telling us to complete our research and your request in a few months?"

"I'm well aware that I'm asking for the impossible."

Even Brother Bertrand's brow was deeply furrowed.

Oliver, who was watching it from the side, looked worriedly at my and the teacher's faces.

Brother Bertrand, who had been thinking hard with a difficult expression for a while, suddenly turned his gaze towards me and Oliver.

"Can he be kept in my laboratory until Ortnek goes to study abroad?"

"If you could return him to me once a week."

As soon as he heard that, Brother Bertrand stood up and held out his hand to me.

"From today, I will be your teacher and your research partner."

"Again, I'm Rai Ortnek. I look forward to working with you, Professor Bertrand."

"Well then, I have to move on to another matter, so I'll excuse myself. Professor Bertrand. I'll leave the rest to you."

"M-Müller-sensei! Thank you very much!"

After briefly discussing the other detailed rules with Brother Bertrand, Professor Müller turned to me again.

"Rai Ortnek. It will be a rush, but do your best for your future, to get closer to the form of knight you want to be."

Professor Müller lightly patted me on the shoulder as if to encourage me, and this time he finally left the laboratory.

"First of all, let's hear your story first. What I want to ask you is about the mixed magic you told Wood and me about. What knowledge do you want from me in return?"

"Didn't you hear most of it from Oliver?"

"I do have a grasp. But the more people involved, the more distorted the qualities are."

Brother Bertrand, who wanted to hear the story again directly, I told him my way of fighting in the Knight Department.

"In other words, I want to create a party with both mages and knights. If possible, I want some diversity in the jobs."

This is what I've been trying to gradually achieve in the Knight Department lectures since last time, but the introduction of front-line and back-line jobs.

A tank that is the party's shield, receives all the attacks from the enemy, and protects their allies.

This is suitable for those with high stamina and confidence in their armor, or agile people who can avoid attacks while buying the enemy's hate.

Next is the healer. This is preferably from the Mage Department rather than the Knight Department, especially those who can use white magic.

Since they will be responsible for the party's recovery, the ability to recover the entire party is a prerequisite, and the ability to see and grasp the whole situation is necessary.

After that, I want two or three different types of attackers.

One is an attacker specialized in physical attacks.

This can be a type like Arthur who attacks with a lot of attacks, or a type like Shiro who overpowers with overwhelming power.

The other is a type specialized in magical attacks.

Even monsters have types with high magical defense and types with high physical defense, so I definitely want to separate the types of attackers.

Finally, a versatile type that can use both physical and magical attacks.

Depending on how you develop your skills, you can end up being a jack of all trades, but this is the type I'm aiming for.

Isn't the hero of a certain RPG this type?

The problem is that mages and knights never tried to fight together in the same party, so there is no magic to cover each other.

I've been thinking about that magic all along.

"Have you thought about what kind of effect the magic should have?"

"Yes, of course. I'm thinking of gradually incorporating the magic that Oliver is thinking about into actual combat, mainly using the magic that is currently used in the Knight Department's practical lectures."

"What did you do with the incantations and magic circles until now?"

"Well, there, I covered it with imagination."

I felt a little awkward because the other party was the one who taught me magic in the royal palace, so I averted my eyes.

Brother Bertrand knew about what I had done in the southern garden, so his expression was stern.

"I see. You have the basics of magic itself?"

"I can do the basics and the magic circles and incantations."

Everything was taught to me by Brother Bertrand and Master Cyril in the royal palace.

"Then, the knowledge you need is the knowledge about the construction of magic circles and incantations. I don't mind teaching you directly, but, Wood."

"Y-Yes!"

Oliver, who had been listening quietly from the side, jumped.

"Take the book of sacred characters from the library. And you teach the basics. Teaching others is also learning."

"Yes!"

"Today, you don't have to think about mixed magic for now. Wood and Ortnek, both of you should work to improve Ortnek's magical knowledge. From tomorrow, we will divide the time for research and lectures."
