Born as the 7th Prince - 14

"Academy... I think I can learn enough elementary education in the palace."

"Elementary education is just learning the basics of academics. I'm talking about what comes after that. You can go on to the secondary division to learn about magic, and then continue your research into magic in the higher division. With your ideas and perspective, the understanding and research of magic in this world should advance rapidly."

In this world, every country has at least one academy or school, but the largest academy is the Centro Kingdom's academy.

The Centro Kingdom's academy is broadly divided into three levels:

The elementary division, where commoners and lower-ranking nobles who can't afford tutors learn general subjects like history and arithmetic.

The secondary division, where students who have completed elementary school and nobles who have passed certain exams study specialized subjects.

The secondary division has departments for each profession, such as knight and mage departments, so students can choose a department depending on what they want to be in the future.

The higher division is mainly for learning how to become a teacher at the academy.

Those who have achieved good results in research or who have held jobs related to departments in the secondary division learn how to teach others.

Also, if you become a professor at the academy, you get research funding for your specialty, just like university professors, so scholars flock to become professors at the academy.

Certainly, considering that Brother Bertrand, who skipped grades to become a professor at the academy, didn't know about the presence of water in the atmosphere, my knowledge, even though I didn't specialize in science in Japan, is probably quite advanced.

But if you ask me if I want to specialize in magic or scientific research, I don't particularly like studying, and I'd rather decline if possible.

"I don't want to study."

"But not using that brain of yours is a great loss to society."

"Then I'll just tell you what I've noticed, Brother Bertrand, and you can spread it to the world, right?"

"Don't be ridiculous! I haven't fallen so low as to steal my own brother's research results!"

My body flinched as Brother Bertrand slammed his fist on the table.

That's when I realized my blunder.

Brother Bertrand and the other professors at the academy genuinely love their fields.

They're happy to discover new things, and even happier if it's their own discovery.

Sure, there might be some who steal others' research to boost their own fame, but most researchers aren't like that.

They're all proud of their research.

"Ah, sorry. That was careless."

"......No, I apologize for raising my voice. But I have no intention of stealing anyone's research, and I wouldn't be happy if my reputation increased because of such a thing."

Brother Bertrand awkwardly averted his eyes, scratching the back of his head and messing up his hair.

"After talking to you today, I've realized again that Raimond is far smarter than I am. It's a kind of talent. That's why I want to prevent that talent from being crushed by our mother's whims. If you ask if it's for the sake of talent, I guess it's not that important, but to be frank, I'm worried about you."

So that's why he called me to this northern garden, where Mother's servants can't get to me.

Mother has few servants, but those few worship her.

If Brother Bertrand tried to pull me away from Mother, even for the sake of my knowledge, those servants wouldn't stay silent.

"Is that why you had Teacher Cyril ask me those questions?"

Teacher Cyril only knows the basics of magic.

So, if I were using advanced magic, he wouldn't understand it and would have to ask Brother Bertrand about it.

Even if it was simple, he could get me out here by saying he wanted me to tell him more about it.

It's not strange for me, who is fond of both Teacher Cyril and Maria, to go out with them.

Even if Teacher Cyril gets glared at for it, his swordsmanship should be enough to handle it.

I let out a long sigh and collapsed onto the table.

What a troublesome and roundabout thing to do to get me out here.

And he's keeping himself in a safe zone.

He probably expected Cyril to shake off Mother's forces, saying it was for my safety.

"......Brother Bertrand, you have a bad personality, you know?"

".........At least call me a strategist."

"So, were your doubts resolved, Brother Bertrand?"

When I turned to face Brother Bertrand again and asked that, he smiled with amusement.

"That's right. I learned what I wanted to know the most. But new questions have arisen as well."

"Since there's no one around here, why don't we talk about it?"

"Hoh? Sounds good. Then let's have a constructive discussion for a while, shall we?"

It's obvious to everyone else, but no one actually tries to have a serious discussion with a five-year-old.

But, think about it.

I understand that I've been reincarnated, so I fully understand that I'm five years old right now.

But what's packed inside my head is the thought process, values, and intelligence of an adult.

Even if I superficially think of myself as a child, subconsciously, I think of myself as an adult.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is that I'm not using my brain enough, and I feel like the wrinkles on my brain are disappearing.

The most I use my brain for is children's picture books and toys.

I don't even read difficult books, and Maria is the only one who tells me about the outside world.

Even Maria only tells me easy things that are dumbed down for a child like me, so I'm really not using my brain.

I learned for the first time that your brain gets tired from overusing it, but it also gets tired from underusing it.

Well, what I'm trying to say is,

"So, since I'm half-Ajin and half-human, I must have inherited the traits of both."

"But in general, half-breeds have stronger demi-human traits. Shouldn't we consider this closer to being a demi-human?"

"Have you minutely examined every single drop of blood flowing through me?"

"......No. What would observing your blood accomplish?"

"You can't understand what makes a person who they are just from their appearance, you know?"

Honestly, I had so much fun having a normal discussion that I talked too much.
